The battle between England and Uruguay will be held on 19 June 2014 in the largest city in Brazil – Sao Paulo. Uruguay have done superbly well in the footballing world. Uruguay took two World Cups to their country in the very first tournament in 1930 and then again in 1950. They finished fifth in CONMEBOL underneath Ecuador on goal differential. Team’s morale must be sky high in this world cup as it has just won the Copa América, the South American continental championship and come to the tournament. It is a solid squad, especially up front and they were a surprise semifinalist in the 2010 World Cup. It is the highest ranked teams in the group. Now-a-days Uruguay has an official FIFA ranking of 6, while England is 13 in world ranking. They love its soccer more than any other country in the world, but that passion just hasn’t led to the results it desires. England topped a tough group in qualification round, heading Poland, Ukraine and Montenegro amongst others. England Football Team will be without some familiar faces this summer. But they could do better in this tournament as Hodgson have done plenty of homework on the opposition. Uruguay coach Oscar Washington Tabarez said that, “We know that we are not among the favorites, But we also know that if we prepare well we can be a very difficult opponent to take on, and that is going to be the centre of our thoughts.”

Players to watch:

 For Uruguay:

Many have pinned Uruguay to be a “two man team”. The name of these two popular footballer from Uruguayan Squad are Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. Luis Suarez is the devastating and controversial striker and plays for Liverpool. This classic forward should make an even bigger mark scoring goals of his own to lead a strong Uruguay side this year.

For England:

If we’re picking just one England player to watch on this 2014 FIFA World Cup, it has to be the rascal Wayne Rooney. The Manchester United star will be looking to open his World Cup finals account in Brazil. We know that he couldn’t find the net for England in disappointing showings at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. So there are lots of expectations on him in 2014.

The pair has met twice at World Cups before. England lost in one by 4-2 and another one was a goalless draw the year when the English won the tournament in 1966. Let’s see what happens in 2014 World Cup.

This is the crunch clash for both teams. The South Americans have a plenty of attacking options. They are going to hurt Roy Hodgson’s men. But It looks that England are more promising. The score of the match may be like England 2-1 Uruguay.
