Uruguay will kick off their last match of group stage of the World Cup campaign against Italy on Tuesday, 24 June while all eyes will be on the action in Natal. Natal sits on the Atlantic coast and the Arena das Dunas stadium has been particularly made for the tournament. Group D is the one of the most difficult packs in the 2014 World Cup with three teams in the top 11 of the FIFA rankings. Uruguay, the 2010 World Cup semifinalists and 2011 Copa America is the highest in the group. They are at 7th rank in world rankings. They finished fifth in the CONMEBOL region and sail to Brazil after having shaky qualifying round. The Uruguayans won the title in 1930 and 1950. So it has been a long time they picked up the World Cup Championship trophy. On the other side, the “Squadra Azzurra” is currently sitting in ninth place according to FIFA’s latest release. The Italians are four-time champions. If they win the World Cup in this summer, they could match Brazil’s record of five titles. However, they are considered as one of the front runners for the title. They directly qualified for the finals of Brazil World Cup 2014 by securing 22 points from a possible 30. Hope they will continue their attack in the whole World Cup tournament.
